We made a movie...

No not that kind of movie! But a hilarious (to me) short about my folks and their new house. Some of you may have seen this on their blog already and yes there is a typo in the credits, I'm too lazy to fix it.

Back in GA!

I haven't done this much traveling since I was working!

We got back late Monday from a week and a half-ish in MI with my folks.

Family reunion. For those of you uninitiated or having not heard the stories.... Family reunion is my dad's side of the family (most of them anyway) camping together for a week in a state or local or occasionally, but not often, a private campground. Usually ends up being about 30 people with up to 10 day trippers visiting or not depending on their summer schedules.

I think this year we had 10 tents, 4 campers, 1 RV, a jet ski, 25 bikes, 1 hammock, 3 frisbees, 4 grills, 40 lbs of bacon and more pancakes than I can count.

There were daily volleyball games, an occasional bike ride, a softball game, a basketball game, daily swimming with the obligatory water frisbee games.

Let me spell it out for you.....in my dad's family, if you aren't doing something that you would have teams and keep score, then you must immediately drop what you are doing until you can quantify and judge the fruits of your labor or it's not worth doing. At all. I mean it. Washing dishes can have a score.
I haven't got very many pictures from the week, I guess I was too busy being competitive.

But here's a few....

This is actually from before all the camping this summer. We got a new tent, and as any responsible camper would like to do, we set up the tent prior to the camping to make sure it had all of it's pieces and find out the assembly method. We decided that the most floor space in the house was in our bedroom. So we actually managed to get this tent (the size of a small car) set up at the end of the bed, it went window to bathroom door and end of bed to closet doors, but it fit! Why didn't we do it outside you ask? Good question.

I have had this hammock for about 10 years, but it sadly hadn't left it's storage box for the past 7, I think. We made up for that exile last week. John took a nap in it one day. I did quite bit of reading in it, and one day my youngest cousin Kimmie and I boated down the Amazon River all the while narrowly escaping crocodiles, lions, and piranhas. Sadly, her Jasmine doll died a terrible death at least 6 times.

On one of the days, we went into Ann Arbor for the Art Fair(s). Crazy people watching and good times, except for the heat. Ugh! We left town around 4 and went to Lansing to have dinner with Becca and Alex. Sushi, yum. And then a drive by of their prospective house. On the way to Lansing we passed this bar. I laughed pretty hard at the sign.

The spirit of the Captain was here. I wished the spirit of the Captain would have done some Captain inspired mischief to the jerky folks on the campsite in the background. Up late, up early, and louder than necessary, those guys thought they were the only one's in the campground. Oh yeah, they had barking dogs and didn't want to clean up after them. Classic!
