Sweatin' with the Oldie

While I was visiting John in LA, I got a chance to hang out a few times with my dear friend Dave whom I've known since college. He used to work as a segment producer for a very popular talk show but had decided that 7 years was enough and it was time to move on. One of the last segments he worked on was with everybody's favorite Richard Simmons. That's right, Richard "Sweatin' to the Oldies" Simmons. Anyway, it so happened that he invited Dave to his gym "Slimmons" (HA!). Dave went and had a great time and continued to go back on and off for a few months.
Well, he invited me along with him one day last week and holy crap did I have a fun time! Richard, or Dickie as he was calling himself, is just like he is on TV. Just as crazy, running around, high energy, singing show tunes, nutty as you ever seen except now he's 60 something!

The class was mostly women but there were probably 10 guys. And the age range was about 18-80. Not kidding! After about an hour of intense dance-y aerobics/cardio (which I'm NOT good at) there was 15 minutes of free weights and some crunches and push ups all the while Richard was cracking jokes and being crazy. By the end I was indeed sweaty and tired. Richard Simmon's kicked my butt!
